Sheep Sales and Shows
The U.S. Targhee Sheep Association National Show and Sale will be held in Miles City, MT, at the Custer County Fairgrounds, July 16-18.
The event begins Thursday, July 16, at 2 p.m. with the following events:
- National Junior Show
- National Wool Contest evaluating shorn fleeces
- Photo Contest highlighting memorable Targhee moments
The National Open Show begins at 10 a.m., Friday, July 17. Yearling rams, ram lambs, yearling ewes, ewe lambs, and pens of three yearling ewes will be shown. A highlight of the Open SHow will be National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP) classes. In these classes rams and ewes will be evaluated on their Expected Progeny Differences (EPD’s) and physical appearance. A lamb dinner banquest will culminate the day’s events.
The U.S. Targhee Sheep Association National Sale will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 18.
This year, for the first time, a Starter Flock will be awarded to a deserving youth aged 9-17.

The 25th Annual Choteau Sheep Expo will be held in Choteau, MT, at the Weatherbeater Barn, September 12. This is Montana’s only All Breed, Private Treaty Ram and Ewe sale.

The 3rd Annual Mitchell’s Milehigh & Heart Lazy P Suffolk Ram Sale will be held in Billings, MT, at the Public Auction Yards (PAYS), September 14.
Selling 25 registered and commercial Suffolk ram lambs and 10 ewe lambs all with QR or RR at Codon 171. Both flicks certified B.ovis free and will meet health requirements for out of state buyers. Both flocks in Voluntaty Scrapie Certification Program. All rams will be scanned for loineye measurements
